Quiet does not have to mean alone
A book shared with an adult is quiet time too. Choose the activity by the help available, keep materials familiar and allow a child to ask for support. Do not use a quiet activity as a substitute for childcare when the adult cannot supervise.
Before starting, check the materials and adult-help notes in the guide. Begin with a small version and keep a familiar alternative available. If the idea does not fit the day, simplify the task or choose a different pace; a longer list is not always the answer.
